1. PRINCIPLES

1.1. The Strong Side seeks to advance the rights and wellbeing of our users and the victim-survivr community. As such, personal and psychological safety is a core priority.
1.2. The Strong Side is committed to eliminating the risk of online harms resulting from the production, distribution, availability or consumption of our website content.

2. OUR PRIVACY MEASURES

2.1. All user-generated content is moderated via a back-end review process in accordance with our editorial guidelines prior to publication. We screen all submissions and comments for personal and identifying content and erase this from both public and back-end records. No personal or identifying information is collected or published to preserve user and community privacy.
2.2. Other users are not able to interact with you, your comments or your submissions in order to protect your personal and psychological safety. This means while other users can view your comments and submissions once we have published them to the live site, we do not allow any function for them to react (e.g. like or unlike), reply or otherwise comment on your submissions, or contact you in any way.
2.2. As a rule, we do not share your data with any other party. The only exception to this may occur in special circumstances where we are legally obliged to contact external law enforcement or child protection agencies, such as if a user discloses that a child or young person is at risk of serious harm, abuse or neglect.
2.4. All features of our website are periodically reviewed and updated in order to accord with Australian eSafety Commissioner and other industry standards.

3. CONSIDERATIONS

3.1. Be aware that if you make a submission or leave a comment, the text and its metadata may be retained indefinitely. If you wish to have your submission or comment taken offline or permanently deleted, you can contact our team at any time and request to do so. You reserve the right to your own data. However, we may not be able to erase from our records data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
3.2. Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
3.3. If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
3.4. Ongoing web hosting, monitoring and maintenance is performed by contracted external providers. This is to guarantee the integrity of the software which hosts the website and protect the website from scam or hacking. This does mean contracted external providers can view the back end of the website so we cannot guarantee the privacy of any personal or identifying information which has been inadvertently or inappropriately submitted by users. We endeavour to screen all submitted data frequently and in a timely manner to mitigate this risk.
